Rockwell Collins announces enhancements for its dPAVES™ IFE system
HAMBURG, Germany (May 17, 2010) - Rockwell Collins has announced enhancements to its popular dPAVES™ single-aisle in-flight entertainment (IFE) system. Enhancements
include a high definition (HD) media server, an updated touch screen flight attendant entertainment control panel and USB
ports for easier data on and offloading. The announcement was made at Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany.
"Rockwell Collins is committed to ensuring our systems meet and exceed airline and passenger expectations. We place special
emphasis on aligning with the needs and wants of our airline customers and their passengers to offer efficiency and usability
improvements," said Tommy Dodson, vice president and general manager, Cabin Systems for Rockwell Collins. "The latest enhancements
to our dPAVES system give airlines increased flexibility and ease of use and offer passengers the same video quality experience
they have in their homes."
Rockwell Collins' dPAVES solution features a High Definition Media Server (HDMS) offering 160 gigabytes of solid state digital
audio and video storage capability, integrated pre-recorded announcements (PRAM) and music functionality with embedded Airshow
Moving Map - all in a single 4 Modular Concept Unit (MCU) box. The large storage capability of the HDMS allows for multiple
play periods of entertainment content, and the server automatically selects new content when the new play period begins.
Additionally, with dPAVES, non-encrypted content can be handled by airlines independent of Rockwell Collins' content management
system giving, airlines the flexibility to respond to commercial opportunities as they arise by replacing local content at
a moment's notice, anywhere in the world.
