Rockwell Collins recognizes Engineer of the Year recipients
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (March 02, 2010) - Three Rockwell Collins employees have been honored for their excellence in engineering and innovation.
Presented with 2009 Corporate Engineer of the Year awards were John Roltgen of Commercial Systems, Ryan Murphy of Government
Systems, and Jim Sampica of Engineering and Technology.
The Rockwell Collins Engineer of the Year award recognizes engineers and scientists for demonstrating outstanding performance
and making significant contributions to the company, their profession and the community at large.
A technical project manager in Flight Control Systems, Roltgen, of Cedar Rapids, has been with the company for 17 years. He
was recognized for his technical skills and dedication in leading the initiative to expand Rockwell Collins into the primary
flight control market.
Murphy, of Marion, is senior electrical engineer in Communication Applications. He was recognized for his innovation and leadership
on the Science Application International Corporation (SAIC) Air Traffic Control (ATC) Radio Upgrade Program. He has been with
the company for seven years.
A principal mechanical engineer in the Head Down Display Center, Sampica, of Springville, was honored for his significant
technical contributions to dry film optical bonding lamination technology. He has been with the company for 25 years.
